What is Dinos Youth?
Dinos Youth is a track and field program offered by the University of Calgary for participants aged 7-15 years. The goal of Dinos Youth is to provide an enjoyable activity setting where participants have the opportunity to develop:
- Basic technical models for the main events of Track and Field
- Physical Fitness qualities and general health
- New friends
- Life skills (Self discipline, respect for authority, competitiveness, cooperativeness, sportsmanship, and self confidence)

Dinos Track & Field Camps starting in January 2022
Ready-Set-Go | Ages 7-11
The Ready, Set Go!! is an introductory program to the sport of track and field with the emphasis on Fundamentals & Fun. With various track & field inspired activities and games, our Dinos coaches will be teaching the fundamental skills of running, jumping and throwing. The goal of the program is to provide an all-around athletic approach to movement and skill development that will serve as a solid foundation in physical literacy for all sports.
Saturday 9:00 am – 10:15 am, 10:30 am -11:45 am, or 12:00 pm to 1:15pm
Dinos Intermediate | Ages 11-15
The Dinos Intermediate Program is an introductory program to the various events of track and field, with the option to specialize further (Tues/Thurs option). Our Dinos coaches will build on the fundamental skills of running, jumping and throwing, with emphasis on specific skill development. The goal of the program is to offer an all-around athletic approach to movement and skill development that will support physical literacy for all sports. The program also allows participants to discover if they would like to pursue track and field when they reach the Club level.
Sunday morning 9:00 am – 10:30 am
Tuesday evening 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Dinos Youth Distance | Ages 11-15
We are excited to offer this program for the first time! The Running Program is designed for athletes who love to run! The hour-long session will begin with general track and field drills to prepare the athlete for the running session and to improve coordination and technique. Each running session will vary from mid to long distance options with instruction on pacing and emphasis on improving running efficiency. Sessions will conclude with general strength and conditioning circuits that are progressively challenging and fun!
